With the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) completed, the six astronauts who will fly the uphill leg of Space Shuttle Mission STS-79 pose for a group portrait not too far from the top of the external tank on the Shuttle Atlantis at Launch Pad 39A. From left are Mission Specialists Carl E. Walz, Jay Apt, Tom Akers, and John E. Blaha; Pilot Terrence W. Wilcutt; and Commander William F. Readdy. Atlantis is scheduled for liftoff on Mission STS-79 no earlier than Sept. 12. During the fourth docking of the U.S. Shuttle to the Russian Space Station Mir, Blaha will exchange places with U.S. astronaut Shannon Lucid, who returns to Earth aboard Atlantis.
