  Astronaut James D. van Hoften, 41-C mission specialist, uses a special tool 
  to work on a faulty attitude control module on the capture Solar Maximum 
  Mission Satellite (SMMS). The SMMS is in the aft section of the payload bay 
  of the Challenger. Dr. van Hoften is anchored to a "cherry picker" device 
  which involves a foot restraint/work station connected to the remote 
  manipulator system (RMS).
