Title: STS-27 Atlantis, OV-104, lifts off from KSC Launch Complex (LC) Pad 39B
STS-27 Atlantis, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 104, is launched from KSC Launch
Complex (LC) Pad 39B for a Department of Defense (DOD) dedicated mission.
OV-104, riding atop the external tank (ET), rises above mobile launcher
platform and launch pad with the launch tower still visible in background.
The STS-27 launch was particularly spectacular because of the unusually
clear skies. Exhaust from the solid rocket boosters (SRBs) covers the
launch pad. This is the third mission for OV-104.
