Worldwide Launches by Month 1989 - 1999

July 1999

Spaceports are required, and space vehicles within them, that break the paradigm of high costs and low flight rates.

Even as forcasts continue to show a growth of commercial launches worldwide, another graphical view of the total picture over the last 10 years is as shown.

The graph of "Worldwide Launches by Month" has been created from a database of the last 10 years.

  • This 10 year horizon marks the end of the Cold War and is a useful breakpoint in visualizing overall trends.
  • The 10 year trend line for total global launch, commercial, governmental and other, has a slight downward trend.

It is clear that as a recent workshop noted on the subject of launch "space transportation - is the bottleneck that currently constrains space enterprises to the imaginable".
