KSC-97EC-1560 - STS-87 Columbia is lifted into high bay 3 in the VAB The orbiter Columbia is lifted in Kennedy Space Centers (KSCs) Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) transfer aisle in preparation for mating to its solid rocket boosters and external tank before roll-out to Pad 39-B. Columbia is scheduled to launch on Nov. 19 for STS-87 on a 16-day flight of the United States Microgravity Payload (USMP)-4 mission. This mission also features the deployment and retrieval of the Spartan-201 satellite and a spacewalk to demonstrate assembly and maintenance operations for future use on the International Space Station. 10/24/97
