![]() The first application of the Body Wearable Computer (BWC) is as a platform for electronic procedures used in testing payload flight hardware. KSC has a number of tests which take place in a number of different locations. One of the main features of BWC is it's portability. One other challenge is to establish wire less voice communication to the user. A voice activated handheld FM radio connected to radionet 500 might be a possible solution for testing. Another possiblity may be voice transmission on a software product like "Netmeeting". |
| PORTABLE DATA COLLECTION LABORATORY |
The Portable Data Collection lab has developed a wireless electronic version of the procedures that will be used to test payloads. This will allow technicians to work with both hands and still see every step in the procedure. This would also allow the user to see a video of how to perform an operation if required. Technicians on the flight, or even middeck, of the orbiter work in very cramped spaces. This new technology will allow them to have more room and extend their ability to get information |
