Dr. Ronald A. Parise

The other scientist serving as a Payload Specialist on Astro-2 is Dr. Ronald
A. Parise. He earned a B.S. in physics, with minors in mathematics,
astronomy, and geology, from Youngstown State University in 1973, an M.S. in
astronomy at the University of Florida in 1977, and his Ph.D. in astronomy at
the University of Florida in 1979. He is a senior scientist in the Space
Observatories Department of Computer Sciences Corporation and is a member of the
Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope team. His astronomy research focuses on
circumstellar material in binary star systems and the rotational excitation of
chromospheres in stars. He has pursued his research under a NASA grant using the
International Ultraviolet Explorer satellite. Dr. Parise also served as a
Payload Specialist on the Astro-1 mission.
