In keeping with the All-American flavor of the 2000 KSC Picnic, this year the Showcase will feature cultural and ethnic entries. The participants
should select a cuisine that reflects either a particular culture or geographic area. We hope that this encourages an infusion of new recipes and additional cooking teams. The following rules apply:
- Each participant must be an avid supporter of the space program.
- Participants are responsible for supplying all of their own cooking utensils, grills, paper products, etc. The picnic committee will provide an area for each participant.
- Facility electrical power is available and may be used for cooking.
- Pleasant and enjoyable displays of cultural or regional music and dancing are strongly encouraged. Offensive distractions (such as loud generators, sirens, or the revving of vehicle engines) are not allowed.
- Teams who have special requirements are asked to notify the Showcase Committee at least one week in advance so that adequate provisions may be made.
- A representative of the Showcase Committee shall conduct a participant's meeting, at which time final instructions and the schedule will be distributed and questions answered. This will take place 3-7 days before the picnic.
- The chairman of the Showcase Committee will provide official interpretation of the rules.
- In consideration of those picnic attendees who may have particular food allergies (shellfish, peanut products, additives, etc.) a list of major ingredients must be posted at each display as well as a notice if the recipe
contains MSG. Other ingredients may be treated as cooks' secrets.
- Teams are encouraged to provide copies of their recipes to the public.
- Each group will set the prices and quantities for their gastronomic presentation(s); remembering this is for charity.
- Entrants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Deadline for application is Friday, April 7, 2000.
